Bixby’s Box: Item #1

A friend of mine and fellow artist, whom we will call “Bixby”, came by the studio just
recently and was intrigued as I saw him enter the gate with a a plastic storage box, you know the kind they sell at home depot for five bucks.

He dropped that thing right in front of me and said, “There might be a few items you might be interested in here”.  It felt like Christmas.

I proceeded to open the box and found it was full old photos photo’s of graffiti,
coloring books, strange business cards, funky postcards among other odd items (yes even Thai Boxing Shorts). It was one of his many cache’s of findings that he has collected and or documented over the years. Bixby prides himself on his preservation of useless items and research skills.

I have known Bixby for a long time, his motivation was obviously not monitary or for reasons of future glory. His instinct to save, is his instinct to save himself and his artform and the things that are important to him. Over time I will be exposing the items of the box and surfacing the beauty and artistic value of the items of it. The
series will be called “Bixby’s Box”.
